A weekend get together . . .

Our college barkada had a get together last Saturday, February 28. We seldom see each other after our graduation so as much as I can I make it a point to attend every event of the barkada be it a wedding, baptismal or birthday of our kids. Last Saturday's get together was initiated by Maila who's now based in New Zealand with her hubby. They are here for a vacation for almost 2 months. We are so excited to see her because finally she's 5 months pregnant already.

It was difficult to set up the schedule since we can't find a date wherein everybody will be available so we just decided to push through with it last Saturday. Since they'll be here until April we'll just see if we can meet again before they leave. Venue was in Fazoli's in Eastwood. I was with my whole family and we arrived just in time for our lunch date.

We are seven in our group and three of them didn't make it last Saturday. Bing ( who I haven't seen since our graduation ) was sick, Kaye has a class ( she's taking up Nursing after her US vacation ) and Jody who has an event that day. Everybody was excited to see Bing so we made a phone patch to her after we had our lunch. We hope we can find another sched wherein the group will be complete for the first time again.

The afternoon was spent for non-stop tsikahan about our lives and of course our lives way back then in college and future plans as well. Syempre pinagusapan din ang mga "absent" kaya dapat wag mag-absent sa mga ganitong event. . . he he he . . .

Fortunately, the kids behaved well during our tsikahan. My friends are so fond of the kids that they are encouraging us to have more. Maganda daw ang lahi kaya dapat paramihin pa. he he he . . . I'm not sure what time we ended our tsikahan session. I think it was almost 4pm already.

Maila is inviting us for the 60th birthday celebration of his dad this coming Saturday, March 7. I'm not yet sure if we can come. We'll just see.

It's my 5th year in Ford . . . .

Today is my 5th year in Ford. Happy anniversary to me! How time flies to fast. I could still reminisce my first days in Ford. I was still single then but about to get married by December. Nobody knew it until I discreetly informed my supervisor. My colleagues knew it in a funny funny way. I think it was November already when they discovered I was getting married. How? I set up a reminder on my cellphone for my gown fitting. I left my cellphone on my desk and was in another desk. A cellphone was beeping and beeping. Nobody was claiming it was their cellphone including myself. I know my standard message and ringing tone but not the alarm on my calendar. So, a colleague of mine was standing in my desk and read the alarm on my phone. From then on they were already teasing me and all. Hay, just one of the funny moments here at work.

Ford has been my longest employer for the past 10 years. I can say that I'm so happy and satisfied with my stay although I must admit that there were times in between that I would look for better opportunities. Nevertheless, I'm still here celebrating my fifth year already and looking forward for the coming years . . .

How do we celebrate Valentine's Day ?

It's happy hearts day today! Flowers and chocolates are everywhere. Hotels and restaurants are fully booked. Traffic is terrible. Long ques in the counter. This is a typical scene during Valentine's Day.

I already received my bouquet of roses from hubby this morning around 10am. I got a call from our receptionist that I have flowers in the lobby. As expected, it's a bouquet of white roses. Just as I got back in my seat hubby called me. He didn't know that the flowers were already delivered. So I thanked him and we talked about our plans later.

We usually just go to a mall and find a resto that can accomodate us. But for today, he suggested that we just go home early and he'll just buy a special dinner for us. I on the otherhand, will buy the little girl her own flowers and the little boy some chocolates. I'm excited because it'll be our first time to celebrate Valentine's day with the kids. I wonder what will be hubby's reaction by that time when our little girl will be receiving flowers from admirers and the little boy will be giving chocolates to his ladylove. Ummm . . . just thinking . . .

JM turned two ! ! !

Last February 3, was JM's second birthday. As I said in my earlier post, we didn't have a grand birthday party for him. The Disney on Ice was a pre-birthday celebration and the HK trip will be a post birthday celebration for him.

We just had a simple get together with my family and of course the balloons, the cake and the ice cream simply made the day for the birthday boy.

Frolics at San Beda 2008 . . .

Last Sunday, January 27, we went to San Beda for the yearly celebration of the Feast of Sto. Niño. Hubby would religiously attend this celebration eversince he was a Bedan. No absence since then! He would really attend with or without me.

We were there past 3pm already. We went to the booth of the San Beda merchandise to buy some stuffs. While there, we met one of his college buddies and his wife. After this, we went to the chapel before the procession started. We stayed for a while and it's a nice feeling to be back where we got married four years ago.

The procession started past 4pm already. It was a long walk this time. The route of the procession was different from the previous years ( cannot specifically identify the route as I'm not an expert with the streets in that area ). According to hubby, it was the longest procession ever. The procession took about an hour and a half. After the procession, we ate snack and headed back home since we need to rest as it'll be a working day the next day.

First time as Principal Sponsors . . .

I almost forgot to blog on this one. Last Friday, hubby and I stood as principal sponsor to a wedding. Imagine at our age "ninong" and "ninang" na kami sa kasal. He he he . . . Anyway, there's nothing wrong about it. Hubby finds it flattering because the couple finds our relationship an ideal one and hopefully we can be a good example to them as they journey through marriage together.

JM is turning 2 ! ! !

It's barely three days to go and JM will be turning two years old already. We are not having a grand party just like what he had last year. It'll just be a simple get together of our families.

New Year's Eve Celebration

This year we decided to celebrate new year's eve with my family in Canlubang ( this might be their last in the PI? - who knows they might get their visas this year already ). It was only our second year to celebrate it at home since we always spend the new year's eve in Cavite with my aunts. They don't want my dad to be driving in the wee hours of the morning after the celebration.

In the morning of the 31st, I started to clean up the house before we leave in the afternoon. I texted my mom to fetch us once the kids had their afternoon naps already. I'm sure they won't sleep if we go there early. The two kids and my nephew we'll be having the time of their lives again once they are all together. I cleaned up the house, fixed some stuffs, prepared our overnight bags as we are heading to Cavite the following day.

JM was asleep already by noon. Kaila was kinda late but better than not having any sleep at all. When both kids were awakened, I dressed them up comfortably and texted my mom that we are ready. Philip also arrived home as he reported to work for a while. My yaya won't be coming with us since she'll be going to her sister in Taguig. We are yayaless for a day! (hope it wouldn't be a thing for 2008 ).

We checked everything is closed before we left the house. On the way, we bought some fireworks as my parents told me that they were not able to buy anything though my sister bought a few. As expected, the kids were all over the place when we arrived our house in Canlubang. The sound system was already in the garage so it'll be videoke time once again. My mom was cooking the media noche - pancit, molo soup, fruit/buco salad, hams & sausages.

While the kids were playing, we sneaked out to the kitchen to prepare the refrigerated cake that I brought. I just brought all the ingredients and we made it there since there was no more space in our refrigerator already. Once in a while the kids will interrupt but we were able to finish it as scheduled.

When all the foods were cooked already, we had our dinner first and fixed the kids after. I dressed them up already and we were in the garage already for the videoke session. Once in a while we would turn on the tv to catch the new year's celebration on various locations. We remembered last new year's eve celebration when we were in Ayala to witness the countdown. It was really a different experience. We plan to do it again next year ( hopefully walang kokontra ).

Firecrakers and fireworks were all over 30 minutes before midnight. Kaila was very much afraid that we won't go out of the garage. I was not able to see the nice fireworks as Kaila would cry out loud everytime I would try to sneak at the fireworks outside. JM on the otherhand was out on the street with his dad. They were able to see all the fireworks displays.

At the strike of 12:01, we were all jumping and greeting each other " Happy New Year "! My mom had the usual pasabog of coins after. As usual, eating time comes next. Though the foods were all over I didn't eat that much. Parang nakakasawa rin kasi. Hahanapin mo na lang yun pag tapos na lahat ng celebrations.

Kaila and my nephew were asleep right after the celebration because they didn't sleep that much in the afternoon. It was only JM who was in the centerstage this time. He's running around and playful as he is keeps on playing and playing as they were able to catch a few hours of sleep before the celebration. Everybody's in the sleeping mood already and JM is still very much awake. Luckily, we were able to put him to sleep easily.

It was again a simple celebration but what is important is the completeness of our family.
